Do you often suffer from flatulence, abdominal cramps and/or diarrhoea after consuming milk products? If so, you may have a lactose-intolerance and be unable to digest lactose (milk sugar).
Lactose-intolerance is not a serious problem but it is inconvenient and embarrassing, 10% of the people in the Netherlands have this problem. The enzyme lactase is not present in their intestines, or the quantity of this enzyme is too small. This means the lactose is not properly digested and it is broken down anaerobically, which leads to the characteristic unpleasant and embarrassing symptoms.
Taking Disolact lactase capsules simultaneously with the milk product helps to digest the milk and you will discover that these symptoms are greatly reduced or disappear entirely.
How do you know if you are lactose intolerant? Your GP can refer you to a hospital for a lactose-intolerance test.
However, many people establish for themselves that they are lactose-intolerant by temporarily eliminating milk products from their diet. If the symptoms disappear and then return when you start consuming milk products again, you are probably lactose-intolerant. Discuss this with your doctor, who can give you more information.
Disolact cannot be used to prevent the consequences of an allergy to milk. An allergy to milk (cow’s milk or otherwise) is an allergic reaction to the protein contained in the milk. Disolact cannot prevent this.
